Adventure
Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.5
Hollow Lantern is a quiet adventure that trades fighting for exploring. You wander a half-flooded town with a lantern, solving small environmental puzzles and piecing together what happened to the people who lived there. It's slow in the best way.
Movement is a simple tap-to-walk, and interacting with things is just as easy, which keeps you focused on looking around rather than fighting controls. The sound design does a huge amount of the work. Dripping water, creaking wood, the occasional distant noise that made me stop and listen.
It's short, maybe three hours, but it doesn't overstay. I finished it in two sittings and still think about a few of its images. That's rare for a mobile game.
